Crestron and Control4 Lead in Whole House Automation

Savant, AMX and Elan Round Out the Top Five.

The June, 2013 edition of CEPro Magazine includes the results of the annual survey of the top 100 custom Installation companies by annual revenue. Per Robert Archer, the author of this years survey article, "this year's look at what products and services the 100 highest-grossing custom installation companies are offering shows that sysem traits such as value and versatility tops the public's wish list".

Being a custom integrator and online retailer ourselves (see, we were most interested in what automation brands are leading in smart home systems (aka whole-house automation), lighting, climate, and entertainment subsystem controls.

So, per the CEPro survey, here are the top 5 brand names in each of those categories by percentage of integrators in top 100 who install the brand. Note most large integration companies install more than a single brand of control for each home sub-system.

Entertainment Controls

1. URC 69% Many homeowners install a universal remote control solution for their entertainment systems. URC is a traditional choice here. Control4, Crestron and most other name brands provide control apps for the iPad/iPhone/Android devices. Thus propelling Apple to 2nd place on this list, while RTI is another traditional choice. Crestron and Control4 systems include the URC function as a native capability.
