Installing a dimmer on a lamp can add instant ambience to any room. By connecting a lamp to a Z-wave™ Plug-in Lamp Module, you'll be able to control it remotely using a radio-frequency controller such as the Logitech Harmony 890. The lamp module accepts timed signals, so you can schedule your lamp to turn on at dusk, convenient if you're away from home. The indicator LED provides feedback allowing you to see whether your device has received the ON/OFF/DIM signal from the controller. Because Z-wave™ is radio frequency (RF) technology each module includes a repeater function, adding more modules to your Z-Wave network actually improves reliability. As repeaters will re-transmit the RF signal to ensure the signal is received by its intended destination by routing the signal around obstacles and radio dead spots. The lamp module can also be turned on manually by pressing the button on the top of the module, and is rated at 300 watts at 20 VAC 60 Hz.

Note this Intermatic plug-in module can be used with any Home Settings network and any Z-wave™ enabled network. Z-wave™ enabled devices displaying the Z-wave™ logo can also be used with Home Settings modules and controllers regardless of the manufacturer, and Home Settings modules and controllers can also be used in other manufacturer’s Z-wave™ enabled networks.

The Intermatic Home Settings Z-wave™ products also include an Appliance Module, an Outdoor Lamp Module, and an In-Wall Switch/Dimmer, which replaces a standard wall switch, to control a single lighting load.

Ease of Installation

The Intermatic Z-wave™ Plug-in Lamp Module installation is straightforward and completed in minutes. You simply plug the module into a standard wall outlet and plug the lamp into the side of the module and verify the module controls the lamp manually. Then you place your Z-wave™ controller into "identify" mode and tap the top button on the lamp module to link it to the Z-wave™ controller.

Home Automation Product Reliability

Each Intermatic Home Settings product has a special feature that virtually guarantees RF signals are received. The reliability of the lamp module itself is difficult to determine because of the newness of this technology. Our experience thus far indicates, if the lamp fails to operate, it's normally because the lamp module is not fully inserted into the wall outlet or has been jarred loose completely. All Intermatic Home Settings products come with a 6 year warranty, which is well beyond the 2 year warranty provided by competing wireless lighting solutions.
