X10 Pro Heavy Duty Switch - XPS2

The XPS2 X10 Heavy Duty Switch is cost effective and reliable for 220 VAC 20 Amp loads.

Overall Rating: 8.3 out of 10

Features

With the XPS2 heavy duty switch you can activate your pool pump from your kitchen. Switch on your spa from inside the house so the water is perfectly heated when you arrive. Use the switch with any X10 remote control or home automation interface to save on electric bills by having your air conditioner or heater automatically turn off when you leave the house, then switch on before you get home. And with the X10 Telephone Transponder, you can even turn on/off these devices or any heavy-duty appliance with a phone call. In short, once installed, you can control connected devices locally at the switch, or remotely activate them from any X10 transmitter.

Please note this switch is designed for use in North America in single-family homes with split-single phase (two lines of 120 volts) electrical service. It will not function on single-phase 240 volts commonly found outside of North America. It will also not work with 3-phase 120 volts commonly found in commercial, industrial, and some apartments or condominiums.

While heavy duty switch solutions are available with some wireless product lines, the XPS2 is very cost effective at $40 each retail.

Ease of Installation

To install the XPS2 wire this switch between the two hot wires from the circuit breaker box and the 220-volt load. If used outdoors, mount it in a weatherproof enclosure.

If you're not comfortable with 220 VAC house wiring, any registered electrician will be able to install this switch in the appropriate enclosure in a matter of minutes.

Reliability

A typical application for the XPS2 is remote control of pool/spa motors. These switches are still working reliably every day in installations performed over 5 years ago.
